the white sox clinched the al central title today!

al central champion white sox

GO (WHITE) SOX!!!

p.s. – the white sox play the indians this weekend and the yankees play the red sox. while i would love for the white sox to sweep the indians, if the indians take 2 of 3 from the white sox and the red sox take 2 of 3 from the yankees, that will set up a 3-way tie for the wild card and al east title! in the decade or so since the wild card has been around, there has never been a three way tie.

the three way tie would be decided with two one-game playoff series…the yankees and red sox would play on monday, and the loser from that game would play the indians on tuesday.

i was watching the daily show from last night and jon stewart showed this graphic (from fema’s official website):

fema = disaster?

isn’t it kinda strange how fema’s flowchart for how they work begins and ends in disaster?

carrie did a project last semester in her biometrics class about trying to spoof hand recognition systems. well, her partner wrote an abstract based on the project with his professor and submitted it to the biometric consortium 2005. it was accepted as a poster presentation, and carrie is listed as a co-author! awesome!!

if you’d like to read the abstract, it’s right here
